Telehealth technology is perfectly legal provided that it is used by a licensed physician.

Now that marijuana is legal in California do I still need a med card?
The passage of Prop 64 means that you can now possess up to an ounce of cannabis. However, dispensaries will not be licensed to actually sell recreational cannabis until 2018. This means that you will still need to have a medical cannabis card in order to purchase cannabis products – unless the cannabis is gifted to you.
What is the minimum age to be seen?
You must be at least 18 years old.
Can I consume cannabis in public?
No! In California, consuming cannabis in public is still illegal. Cannabis cannot be consumed in public areas, even if tobacco is allowed.
How long is my recommendation valid for?
This depends on the medical condition and the doctor's decision on treatment. Generally, recommendations are valid for a year.
What does a medical marijuana recommendation allow me to do?
Possessing a California medical marijuana recommendation allows patients to legally grow, consume, possess and transport cannabis as your medicine under California Prop 215. This is only a California state law; the federal government does not recognize medical marijuana.
